シングルモルトが面白そう

最近（ちゅうかちょっと前から）、シングルモルトに少々興味がある。ウィスキーなんて学生時代にハーパーとかアーリータイムスなんかのバーボンを飲んで以来で、シングルモルトなんちゅうのはこの年で初めて飲む代物である。飲んでみると、個性が強くてなかなか面白い。

初めて飲んだのはFrankufurtのホテルのバーで飲んだマッカランの12年。マッカランはスペイサイドだが、正直それほど個性を感じず、
「うーん、旨い。旨いがよくわからん」
といった感じであった。翌日には同じバーでラフロイグを飲んだ。ここで「なんじゃこりゃー」的な衝撃。アイラ特有と言われるピート臭がものすごい。例えづらいが、なんともいえないスモーキーな香りと塩辛さが印象的であった。

その後、大阪に泊まるときにはよく行くショットバーでいろいろと飲ませてもらう。アイラのピート臭が今のところ気になる存在なので、ボウモアとかアードベッグとかいろいろ。そのうち
「これは個人的なモルトで店には出してないんですけど、すごいっすよ」
と言われて出されたのがアードベッグ ウーガダール（Ardbeg Uigedail）というもの。確かに強烈なピート臭とパンチが効いていた気がする（酔っていたのであまり記憶なし。バーテンさんごめんなさい。）。あとはラフロイグ クォーターカスクなど。

ちゅうわけで、今うちにはLaphroigが置いてある。日本で買ってもそれほど高くないことが判明。

しかし、俺も実はブームに乗せられているんだろうけど、シングルモルトブームがちょいと顔をのぞかせているようで、ちょっと不安。ウィスキーなんか好きでもないオッサンがブームに乗っかっちゃって薀蓄垂れたりなんかした日にゃ、日本の輸入業者がシングルモルト買占めなんかしたりして、旨いものが手に入りづらくなったりして…。

先日もレオンあたりで「モテるオヤジはシングルモルト」的な特集組んでたみたいだからな。
