フォトレタッチソフトを持っていない。一つあるが、かなり昔のPhotoshop。今回は、フリーソフトの「GIMP」をインストールしてみた。

Version2.0が出ているらしいが、どうも不安定というか、エラーが出てしまって、画像を開けないので、VectorからVersion1.2をインストールしてみた。

GIMPとは「GNU Image Manipulation Program」の略らしく、もともとUNIX環境で使われていたソフトである。Windowsに移植してくれた方に感謝。インストールしてみたが、普通に使うには困らないだけの機能が満載。ぱっと見た感じ、基本的な機能はPhotoshopとほとんど変わらない。何しろフリーというのが魅力である。

話によると、少々不安定とのことだが。こまめに保存すれば使えるだろう。旅行記のTopの写真をいじってみた。写真が小さかったので、少々へたくそであるが、画像をいじれるソフトが手に入って、まあ満足。

昨日に引き続き、今夜は夜釣りに挑戦。

今が旬のメバルフィッシングである。一昔前までは、餌釣りでしか釣られていなかったが、近年はワームなどのライトリグを使ったルアーフィッシングの対象として人気があるらしい。近所の釣具屋でアドバイスをもらいながら、ネジワームの白とピンクを購入。また、今回はShimanoのMediumの竿のリールに巻いている糸が極太なので、軽いワームは飛ばない、ということで、100ydほどの4lbのラインも購入。

夜6時半ごろ自宅を出発、食事休憩を挟みつつひたすら国道16号を南下して、夜8時すぎ現場に到着。やはり日曜日の夜ということもあり誰もいない。小さな漁港であるが、足場もよく、船も停泊しており釣れそうな雰囲気が漂う。

先に妻の仕掛けを準備して、その後自分の仕掛けを準備している最中に早速妻にヒット。妻の2投目であったが、15cmほどのメバルを釣り上げた。幸先のいい出だしである。俺もすぐに準備して投げ込む。15mほど投げて超スローリーリング。するとコツコツコツっとアタリがある。例によって今日もなれない左リーリングだったので、あわせに戸惑ったが、何度目かでこちらにもヒット。十数cmのメバルを釣り上げる。

初めに各2,3匹たてつづけに釣れたので、今日は爆釣か、と思ったが、その後さっぱりアタリがなくなる。1時間に1匹くらいのペース。満潮の潮止まりを迎えたからだろうか。シーバスらしき巨大魚がバシャバシャ跳ねているので、ミノーでシーバスを狙ってみるが釣れず。シーバス用の小さめのミノーより少し大きいくらいのメバルが食いついてきたので、活性はいいのだろうか。

このような状態がしばらく続いて気がつけば夜中の2時。もうちょっとしたら帰るか、と話しつつ、場所を変えてみると、今度は一転、釣れ出す。潮が動き始めたのだろうか。最後の30分で5匹くらいをあげてしまった。

結局時間が時間だったので、このまま撤収。結局20匹くらいつれたが、小さめのものは将来を見越してリリースし、自宅で食す分だけ持ち帰った。

全体を通して、ルアーでのメバルは初めてだったことを考慮するとまあまあの結果。テクニック的な問題もあると思うが、なかなか楽しめた。もう少し型が大きければもっと楽しめるだろう。また、近いうちに行ってもいいかな。

現在使用しているメインのコンピュータは5年前に自作したものだ。初めてのPCであったし、全く知識のないまま、先輩に手伝ってもらいながら部品を買い集めたことを覚えている。

このように、Cardが満載。Sound CardおよびModemはISA Busに挿している。Modemは当初、Linuxと混在環境を作っており、ModemはISAのものしか認識しなかったため、ISAのものを使っている。PCI Busは5個あるが3個が埋まっている。

OSは当初Windows 98SEを使っていたが、先日Windows2000に入れ替え。突然落ちることも少なくなり、快適である。メモリは気が向いたら足していき、HDDも2年前40GBのものを付け足した。CPUは当初Celeron 400MHzを使用していたが、ネットオークションでPen3を購入した。現在、最新のBIOSでもこれ以上のCPUは搭載できない。

そう考えると、5年ほど使っているがいろいろアップグレードを繰り返して、現在でもそれなりに使える環境を維持している。世界に一台しかないPCを作ることができ、自分の好きなようにいじることができるのが、自作PCのいいところだと思う。反面、トラブルは当然自分で解決しなければならないので、それなりのPCの知識も必然的に身についてしまう。

閑話休題。今回、モニターに不具合が発生したので、自分でいじってみた。修理というほどでもないけど。素人の作業なので、やってはいけないこともやっているかもしれない。

不具合は、モニターの電源スイッチ部分の接触が悪いようで、ボタンを押しても電源が入らなくなってしまった。製造元に電話すると、修理の技術料だけで17000円、部品の交換が発生するとさらに上乗せ、とのことだった。それだと、もう一台液晶モニターが買えるではないか。バカらしいので、自分でできるだけいじってみることにする。

いじるといっても、モニター内部は高電圧のコンデンサ類があるらしく、勝手に開けるな、とのことだったが…。いつものように、「何とかなるだろ」と開けてみる。ねじをとっても枠がどうしても外れないので、少々無理してドライバーでこじ開け隙間を作る。そこから電源ボタンの埃を綿棒などでひたすらとる。今回はこれ以上いじれないので、素直に戻す。

果たして、電源を入れると…。うまく入るようになった。こんなもんである。これで、17000円取られていると、アホらしくてサンガリアのガブ飲みコーヒーをガブ飲みしていることであろう。
